Being Chased in Dreams

Being chased is among the most common dream scenarios, and it tends to leave a strong emotional imprint. Symbolically, it may reflect avoidance: a feeling, a conversation, or a decision you have been keeping just ahead of you rather than turning around to face.

The pursuer often says as much as the chase. A shadowy figure may stand for something unnamed that you sense but cannot yet describe. A known person may point to tension in that relationship. An animal can suggest instinct or emotion that feels bigger than you are ready to handle.

Notice how the dream ends. Escaping may reflect a wish for relief, while turning to face the chaser can hint at growing courage. Some dreamers find the pursuer softens once they stop running.
