Darkness in Dreams

Darkness removes what we rely on most. In dreams, it may reflect uncertainty, the unknown, or the feeling of being blindsided by change. Sudden darkness can echo a loss of control, while a slow dimming may hint at fading energy or something quietly ending.

Yet darkness is not only threatening. It can be restful, the darkness of a bedroom, a womb, a night sky. Whether the dream feels frightening or peaceful is often the most important clue.

Moving through darkness by touch may reflect trust in your instincts. Reaching for a light switch that does not work can suggest frustration with a situation that will not clarify.
